soundBreathing

is an application designed to enhance well-being through an immersive sound and visual experience.

What makes it special ? A sound mixing technique that allows the listener to feel surrounded by sound and experience an instant sense of escape and well-being. This feeling is enhanced by original, evolving musical creations as well as sound and visual atmospheres drawn directly from the beautiful island of Martinique.

Immersive sound refers to an audio technology that reproduces the way in which the human ear perceives acoustic waves, i.e. in three dimensions.

For soundBreathing, we chose the binaural mixing technique to reproduce the natural perception of sound and create a feeling of thorough immersion.

Binaural listening is done through providing slightly different input to the right and left ear, inducing the brain into spatialising the sound as a psychoacoustic effect, thus it can only be experienced through headphones

The sounds are generated in 3D, giving the user a totally immersive experience by creating a 360° soundstage

This technique also makes it possible to listen to films in Dolby Atmos, the sound system used in cinemas, reproducing a listening experience with more than a dozen speakers placed around the listener, comprising up to 128 audio channels! (Stereo, traditional listening, has only 2).

Sit or lie down and take a few seconds to feel your body and ‘listen to your sensations’.

Visualise a fir tree and imagine your feet anchored in the ground as if they were roots.

Your head rises towards the sky.

Keep your spine slightly extended.

Relax your shoulders and arms, like the branches of that tree.

While breathing, you should feel that your breath comes from your abdomen and not your chest.

Now imagine that the breathing movement involves your whole body, starting from its centre, your navel.

As you breathe in, let your abdomen inflate, you may put your hands on it to feel it.
